Court Tours Program

Voluntary docents treat 5th and 8th graders to a memorable day that includes an authentic courtroom experience.

About this program

Here’s how the day plays out:

  • Students tour the Courthouse and learn about the detention facility.
  • Students visit the courtroom and observe a “real” court proceeding.
  • Students act as key players in a scripted mock trial, including a judge, bailiff, district attorney, witnesses and defense attorney, as well as jurors voting on the verdict.

Tours are held from October through May on nearly every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The Court Tours Program is always in need of new docents. The commitment is typically 4–6 tours during the academic school year, with each tour running from 10:00am until approximately 1:00pm. That said, some docents choose a greater commitment while others choose less.
