In promoting a discussion on creating a more inclusive Contra Costa County legal community, this year we will focus on the visibility — or invisibility — of attorneys in minority populations in the Contra Costa County legal community. The panelists will discuss their personal experiences with racism, including stereotypical comments, tropes, and insults. This includes comments inside and outside the courtroom from other attorneys, clients, and individuals within the judicial and law enforcement community. They will talk about the impact of these comments (both personally and professionally) and offer advice on how to react as well as long term strategies to prevent future occurrences.
